Cosmetic Bonding and Contouring

WagerEvans_InternalPhotos_Bonding&ContouringIf chips, gaps, and misshapen teeth limit your smile’s potential, cosmetic bonding and contouring offers a fast, effective solution. With bonding and contouring, Dr. Evans or Dr. Wager quickly corrects these flaws to deliver a more pleasing overall appearance. We understand your schedule can be hectic and finding time to see the dentist can be tough. Fortunately, cosmetic bonding and contouring are both minimally invasive cosmetic procedures that can be completed in just one visit.

Cosmetic Bonding

The process of adding to tooth structure is called bonding. We refer to the practice of reshaping teeth by removing tooth structure as recontouring. Usually, bonding and contouring occur during one appointment and may be performed separately or in conjunction with one another. For bonding, Dr. Evans or Dr. Wager will use composite resin, the same material used for all-white fillings, to close a gap or repair chip. Bonding is tinted to match existing tooth structure, so the restoration is seamless in an all-white smile. Bonding can also be used as a permanent teeth whitening solution. The material will be applied to the tooth in several thin layers. Dr. Evans or Dr. Wager will then use a special light to cure the composite bonding material and sculpt the tooth. In one visit, we can completely transform the appearance of your teeth and restore full function to your smile.

To smooth sharp canine teeth or soften serrated or jagged edges on teeth, Dr. Evans or Dr. Wager can gently remove a tiny amount of enamel during recontouring. The result is a smoother, softer appearance. Recontouring also allows Dr. Evans and Dr. Wager to smooth away pits in the surface of the tooth and address overlapping teeth. If you have any question about the cosmetic bonding or contouring process, please contact your Wager Evans dental team today for more information.
