Total Tooth-Saving Comfort for Reno
No one hears the words “root canal” and gets excited – until now! Root canals have a bad reputation, but the reality is that endodontic therapy doesn’t cause pain, it stops it! Even better, Dr. Evans, your choice for advanced Reno dentistry, has pledged to keep you comfortable at all times. That means any procedure, from cleanings to root canals, can be completed with ease.
Rescuing Teeth One Root Canal at a Time
Having a tooth pulled is never the best solution to anything. But if decay or dental damage progresses, it can lead to a painful dental infection. Without proper treatment, badly infected teeth could require extraction in order to stop pain and prevent advanced decay. Before we decide to perform an extraction, the Wager Evans Dental team often recommends endodontic treatment (also known as root canal treatment). Root canal treatments clear away most infections – even deep into the canals of your roots – to restore the health and function of your smile while keeping your natural tooth in place.
Do I Need a Root Canal?
There are many warning signs that a dental infection may be brewing including:
- Toothaches
- Discomfort when biting down or chewing
- Sensitivity to temperature changes
- Pain that radiates into your jaw
- Tooth discoloration
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Swelling around the tooth
- Swelling in the cheek or face
If you have any of these symptoms, please call Wager Evans Dental immediately. When not properly treated, you may lose more than your tooth, you could lose your health as well, even causing immune system compromise!
How Does a Root Canal Work?
Inside your tooth is a network of tissue, blood vessels, and nerves that extend into your tooth roots. This tissue, also called the dental pulp, is necessary when your teeth are growing into place. The best way to clear away infection is by removing all of that infected pulp while still preserving your enamel – and that’s exactly what a root canal does. It cleans your tooth all the way into the root canal.
The process begins by creating an access point through the enamel. Once we access the interior of your tooth, we remove all infected tissue, sterilize the inside of your tooth, and seal it with a special material designed to block access to further infection. After your tooth is clean and healthy, it’s capped and sealed with a gorgeous, life-like crown.
Your tooth and root are saved, your smile revitalized, and your confidence renewed! At Reno’s Wager Evans Dental, we work as partners, alongside the best endodontists or root canal specialists in northern Nevada to provide the very best in reliable, restorative root canal treatment.
