At Wager Evans Dental, Dr. William Wager and Dr. Brian Evans offer top-notch general, preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental services to our patients of all ages from across the greater Reno area. We want our patients to know that we go above and beyond the care given at traditional comprehensive care dental practices. How? By offering sleep apnea treatment.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a condition in which your oral and throat muscles relax and shift when you sleep, blocking your airway. This obstruction interferes with your breathing while you sleep, eventually causing you to stop breathing completely. These pauses in breathing can last anywhere from ten seconds to a few minutes and can occur several times within a sleep cycle, adding up to countless times each night.

Each time a cessation in breathing occurs, the brain will wake the body to reinitiate normal breathing. This causes you to awake abruptly, gasping or choking for air.

Do I Have Sleep Apnea?

If this nighttime routine sounds familiar, and if you experience symptoms during the day that include fatigue, low school or work performance, irritability, and headaches, you might be one of the millions of people worldwide who suffer from sleep apnea.

Dr. Wager is a sleep dentistry expert and has years of training and experience helping patients overcome their sleep conditions and obtain the rest they need and deserve to live healthy, high-quality lives. If you’d like to reclaim your nights of peaceful slumber and say goodbye to your foggy days, we invite you to reserve a consultation appointment at our Reno dentist office.

At this appointment, Dr. Wager will examine your mouth and jaw position, evaluate your symptoms, and call for a sleep study if needed. If you do have sleep apnea, Dr. Wager will discuss potential treatment plans with you, including behavior and habit changes and the use of a comfortable oral appliance while you sleep.
