arts When you think of Nevada you may think of big city gambling, but there is no doubt art and culture are alive and well in the Reno/Sparks area. From community theater groups to the big Vegas stages there is all sorts of entertainment and culture. Check out some of the arts and cultural events and opportunities below.

What: 2015 International Film Weekend

Where: Bob Boldrick Theater/Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street

When: February 5th through February 7th 2015


Held over a period of three days, the International Film Weekend features award-winning international films and independent movies. The film topics demonstrate global awareness and appreciation for cultural diversity.


What: Nevada Artists Association’s “New Years” Art Show

Where: Carson City’s Brewery Arts Center, 449 West King Street

When: Through February 13th 2015


The Nevada Artists Association presents its annual New Year’s Art Exhibit. You can find it in its gallery at Carson City’s Brewery Arts Center.


What: Endangered Species Fine Art Exhibit

Where: Boulder City Art Guild Gallery, 1305 Arizona Street

When: Through February 27th 2015


A fine art exhibit of paintings by Jeffrey Oldham titled “Endangered Species.” The exhibit is located at the Boulder City Art Guild Gallery in Historic Boulder Dam Hotel.


What: “Second Skin” by Sarah Lillegard

Where: OXS Gallery, 716 N. Carson Street, Ste. A

When: February 2nd through April 17th 2015


“Second Skin” is part of an ongoing series by Sarah Lillegard, a 2014 Nevada Arts Council Artist Fellow. Lillegard is a mixed-media artist whose work pulls from the traditions of handcrafts and western iconography. Opening reception Feb 18th. At OXS Gallery, Nevada Arts Council, 716 N. Carson St., Ste. A.
