Enjoy Reno Phil’s Dia De Los Muertos Family Concert 10/29
Once again, Reno’s local orchestra, Reno Phil, will hold a special FREE morning concert to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos, the Mexican Day Of The Dead. This performance will see the group play a number of classic pieces that serve to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos. The concert is also an opportunity to educate attendees about the meaning and culture of this holiday. Several works will be performed, including Gabriela Lena Frank’s “Requiem For A Magical America: El Dia De Los Muertos.” The Dia De Los Muertos family concert is free to attend, but families will need to register to ensure they receive seats. Check Out The Animal Ark Harvest Festival October 15
On Saturday, October 15, Reno’s Animal Ark will host a special event – the Harvest Festival. This event, which is a part of the behavioral enrichment program, will see many of the animals in their preserve offered pumpkins filled with special treats. Visitors to Animal Ark will have a chance to watch these animals dig into their pumpkins and find goodies inside. This can create great moments for you to capture in pictures or on video. Admission to the park is $15, with discounts for seniors and children available. In addition to the Harvest Festival, you can enjoy the impressive sights of the wilderness preserve, and admire the animals at this wildlife sanctuary. Check Out The Tanner’s Marketplace Antiques And Crafts Show
On Saturday, October 8, and Sunday, October 9, you can check out a wealth of great antiques and craft products at the Reno Livestock Events Center. The Tanner’s Marketplace Antiques And Crafts Show draws exhibitors and vendors from several states, and offers a terrific variety of antique wares. Different decades and decorative styles will be on display, and an expert appraiser will be on hand both days. The appraisals are offered for free (with the price of admission to the show). Check Out The 26th Annual Reno Celtic Celebration Oct 1-2
On Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2, you and your family can come to Bartley Ranch Regional Park and check out the Reno Celtic Celebration. Now on its 26th year, the Reno Celtic Celebration assembles a variety of performances and activities that are rooted in Celtic history. You can take in live music and demonstrations, and check out the Celtic critter area. Kids’ games and merchandising areas will also be available, along with several food vendors offering a range of authentic (and more conventional) items. Check Out The Great Reno Balloon Race Sept 9-11
From September 9 through September 11, Reno will play host to the 35th Annual Great Reno Balloon Race! More than 100 hot air balloons will be on display in the course of the event. There will be races, demonstrations like the Glow Show and SUPER Glow Show, and other fun games for attendees. The Great Reno Balloon Race has been a popular staple in local Reno culture, and has won awards like Best Special Event In Reno, and Best Special Event In Northern Nevada. During the summer, residents of Reno can enjoy the Sounds Of Summer Concert Series. The series arranges for live music performances – free of charge, that the public is invited to check out. On August 18, the Sounds Of Summer Concert will be headlined by JamPro Music Factory Band! In addition to great live music, several food trucks will be at the show. The concert is being held at the The Summit Reno, a commercial area with a variety of shops and restaurants. Check Out The Pacifica Festival August 20-21
On August 20 and 21, the Sands Regency Casino Hotel will play host to the Pacifica Festival. This all-ages gathering is a celebration of diverse Polynesian and Asian cultures. The event, hosted by the Pacifica Community Organization, seeks to help people of different Pacific Island cultures to connect. It will also offer information about these cultures for those interested in learning more about their art and culture. There will also be live performances during the fest, cultural activities for kids, and vendors selling a variety of different foods, and merchandise. Take Part In Reno Open Streets On July 31
On Sunday, July 31, local residents can come out to downtown Reno and enjoy a day of fun thanks to the Open Streets event. Streets will be blocked off from car usage, so people can move about freely on foot, or on bike. There will be many vendors on site, with special food offerings, as well as yoga classes, dance sessions, advice on health matters, and more! Open Streets is also focused on helping to put a spotlight on local businesses, to help celebrate all the great opportunities within the community.
