reno When you live in a large metropolitan area sometimes it is nice to get away. If you crave open spaces, greenery, and beautiful scenery, if you’re looking for something to do and see for everyone in the family from tot to teen, you need to look no further than Rancho San Rafael. You can spend hour upon hour there and never become bored. Enjoy the day out while learning about the local environment. Whether you are looking for a place to picnic, walk your dog, hike, or even have a wedding, Rancho San Rafael can accommodate you.

What: Rancho San Rafael

Where: 1595 N. Sierra St. Reno

Reno’s largest County park, Rancho San Rafael exists largely through the contributions of philanthropist Wilbur D. May. You can forget you’re in the city with the many spacious green fields that host a plethora of events including the Great balloon Race, weddings, and company picnics. With an assortment of pavilions and gazebos you can choose what best fits your event or mood.  The park offers full picnic facilities and houses the Wilbur May Museum, the arboretum and botanical gardens.  The flume ride, pony rides, play grounds (including the dinosaur playground), and petting zoo are available to entertain the kids, and there’s frisbee golf for older members of the group.  Got dogs? Visit the fabulous off-the-leash dog park. Clean, beautiful, and well-maintained this park has something for everyone including:
