Just an hour’s drive from Reno this Saturday is the Spring Wings Festival in Fallon Nevada. Where: Churchill Co. Parks & Recreation Complex, Sheckler Rd at Hwy 95 in Fallon

Time:  10am to 3pm

Cost: Decoy Carving $20/person

The Spring Wings Festival provides two FREE Birding Hot Spots Tours by van. Each tour will take two vans. The first tour runs from 7:30am to 9:30am. The second tour runs from 3pm to 5pm. The festival will also have a variety of other activities including:

  • Decoy Carving: Carve a Greater Yellowlegs decoy with a professional. This is a common and attractive shorebird found in the Stillwater marsh.
  • Learn about the Bats and the Bees
  • See a live Falconry demonstration
  • Free talks
  • Exhibits
  • Vendors
  • Hands-on-fun for the whole family

Amazing Birds of Prey

A free presentation featuring Marie Gaspari-Crawford. There will also be a presentation on owls.

Specially designed for the Friends of Stillwater NWR group, these t-shirts feature custom artwork depicting the iconic Canvasback duck tule decoy. The decoy was used for centuries in the Stillwater marsh by the Paiute people.
