The drab months of winter are a perfect time to indulge your hobbies, develop new hobbies, and learn about new and interesting things. There are so many things to learn about in your local area including Lake Tahoe. It is a beautiful body of water, and a venue for relaxation, fishing, water sports, fun and sun, but it is so much more. When: Winter hours are Tuesday through Friday 1pm to 5pm. Special appointments are available. During peak summer months the Education Center is open on Saturdays from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Located on the campus of Sierra Nevada College, the Tahoe Science Center can be found in the main atrium on the first floor where you can discover and explore the wonders of science, learn about what makes Lake Tahoe unique, the geology, environmental issues, and how science is being utilized to restore and protect the lake. If you are a science lover, the Tahoe Science Center has something for everyone including group tours, field trips, a monthly lecture series, hands-on science activities, and special events. There are interactive exhibits on the Tahoe Basin’s important ecological challenges, and you can view the award winning 3D movie, “Lake Tahoe In Depth” (total run-time 15 minutes and 37 seconds). Interested in green homes and workplaces? Find working examples of sustainable design, construction, and landscaping in the LEED Platinum building. Docent led tours are available. Recommended for adults and families with children ages 8 and up, kid-friendly exhibits encourage hands-on learning and general fun. The science center exhibits include:
