tech The dental field is never stagnant. Dental research is continuous and there are always advancements in dental technology.  Research and technology benefit your dental visits in numerous ways making them shorter, less painful, more comfortable, providing numerous treatment options, and giving you myriad choices you’ve never had before. Today your Reno dentists, Dr. William Wager and Dr. Brian Evans discuss various available dental technologies.

Technologies

Today there are many dental technologies for dentists to choose from that make your visit more comfortable, shorter, and easier.  Some of these technologies include:

Diagnodent: A tool for the early detection of caries, diagnodent is an advanced technology that utilizes sound pulse and lasers. It can detect cavities earlier than x-rays to reduce discomfort and preserve more of your natural tooth structure.

Digital X-Rays: A more comfortable way of getting x-rays, digital radiographs capture dental images straight onto the computer screen. Dentists can enlarge the image to see more and to give the dentist and patient a better view.

Implants: Implant technology has provided more dental implant options such as mini-implants for small tooth replacements. Treatment time has also been reduced. Certain implants can be placed immediately after removing the tooth rather than having to wait months.

Lasers: Dental lasers use light energy that reduces discomfort, bleeding, and healing time. Lasers eliminate the need for sutures and can be used to remove gingival tissue, tooth decay, for benign tumors and cold sores, and other treatments.

Electric Hand Pieces: Electric hand pieces are faster and more efficient. They can be used by hygienists and reduce discomfort especially when removing calculus. They can also be used with rotary cutting instruments.
