On July 17, Reno’s annual Reno Artown event is going to the dogs. This date marks the 16th annual Art Paws, the one day where visitors are allowed – and encouraged – to take their pets. You can take your pet out with thousands of other pets and pet owners, and explore the art scene in town. Vendors will have special pet-themed items, and several non-profit organizations will also be on hand. You can enjoy the terrific art on display with Artown Reno while spending the day with your pet. The non-profit that receives the highest number of votes for the “People’s Choice” award will receive one-third of the day’s proceeds. Celebrating 4th Of July With Artown Reno!
The month of July in Reno features a special series of events, called Artown. Artown is an endeavor that aims to support local art and artists, while providing Reno residents a series of exciting and enriching events. On this Fourth Of July, Artown will host two events at Wingfield Park. At 5 pm, a series of activities and art projects will be set up for families to enjoy. At 7:30 pm, a concert from Reno’s philharmonic orchestra, Reno Phil, will be played. The night will end with a fireworks display. Both of these events are free to attend. Check Out The First Sweet Ride Bicycle Festival June 25
On June 25, Reno residents are encouraged to check out the first-ever Sweet Ride Bicycle Festival! The event, developed by Our Alley and Yelp, the event is a special bike ride that has participants ride to various local treat shops, where goodies will be available. The goal is for riders to stay on their bikes and burn more calories than they take in, and the event is helping to benefit the Sierra Arts Foundation, a local arts organization. Experience The Lizard Blizzard At The Discovery February 27
On February 27, the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (also called The Discovery) in Reno will host a fun and informative look at a variety of different reptiles. The event, the Lizard Blizzard, will be led by herpetology expert Dave Boland, who will offer participants a hands-on opportunity to check out a variety of different animals. The Discovery will actually host two events – an 11 am special event will be offered for children 6 and younger, while a 12 pm event will be available for those aged 7 and up. Reno’s 4th Annual Leprechaun Race Is March 13!
On Sunday, March 13, residents of Reno, NV can participate in the 4th annual Leprechaun Race. The run is a 5K that is great for newer runners. The race is geared to be fun for the whole family, and runners are encouraged to come in costume. While the Leprechaun Race is geared towards family fun, proceeds will also go towards the support of the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum. On the second Saturday of every month, Art Spot Reno is offering a guided tour of the murals located throughout Reno. The tour, which begins and finishes at the Blue Whale Coffee Company, is an organized effort to help Reno citizens and visitors identify some of the local art that makes Reno a creative and unique space.
